convenience to everything
room not very soundproof, people next door kept me up until very late with their talking, music.
Beautiful view of the river and beach from the elevated cliff. Right in Gualala town, but set away from the street far enough that there's no street noise. Rooms were clean, had up-to-date furnishings and electronics. Room with two beds was spacious, had a kitchenette, and felt modern.
The breakfast offerings were mediocre, but pretty standard. A couple of the electronic devices didn't work, but the flat screen TV and heater did, which were important.
The bed was lumpy, pillows were flat, room was dirty, noisy, smelled, floor was filthy.
Except for the location...everything.
It was convenient and inexpensive. Clean, on the ocean side of the street. Everything in Gualala is within walking distance, so we were able to walk to dinner, the store, the cliff overlooking the beach. A fine overnight stop on the way up the coast. A little continental breakfast was also included.
Beautiful view. Mp3 Player available in room. Front desk sells Mariner balance toys (but didn't know cost or have wrapping or bags!)
Smallest motel room I have ever stayed in...EVER! Bathroom window was hard to lock - concerned about security. Bathrooms in urgent need of updating.
The Surf Inn is situated on a bluff overlooking the Gualala River and Pacific Ocean. There is a lovely beach along the shore. The view is lovely and very peaceful. A wonderful place to sit and enjoy the scenery.
Lots of Ocean in front of you. Beautiful, very relaxing.
Friendly staff. Good amenities. Free tasty breakfast. Location. Views and vistas.
Cable tv did not work. Staff tried 3 boxes, but it still didn't work. Cable was not serviced due to managing staff gone and no cable servicer available due to holiday weekend.
Breakfast. View from grounds.
Puffy bedding cover was silly. Good for a laugh. Rooms very small.
We had never been to Gualala before, and we found the community and natural surroundings friendly and beautiful. It was cold and windy, but that didn't totally impede outdoor beach type activities (walking, observing wildlife, etc.)The hotel staff (particularly the woman who greeted us and served the great breakfast (mmm--muffins!) was friendly and pretty helpful. She also told us about Cove Azul, a very nice nearby restaurant for dinner.
High speed internet connection flaky. Bed (especially the "French pillow top" goosedown mattress topper--very bunched up and uncomfortable!) was the worst in four nights vacation stays at different n ca motels. Bathroom sink wouldn't drain, sink faucet really hard to turn on, and there was a generally moldy smell in the bathroom.
The room was comfortable and spacious and the kitchen would have been great had we been staying longer. The breakfast was varied, freshly prepared and everything tasted great. Service was excellent and the caretaker personable and helpful.
Wonderful position with sea views
Agree with other reviewers about sound being transmitted through the bedroom walls!
Breakfast was very good
Rooms were too small and feather topper on matress way to thick only in the centre of bed so we removed it
I loved that it was located right on the beach and I could hear the surf of the ocean. It was a great location in town and would stay there again without a doubt. It would be nice to stay there in the summer when you can sit outside in the lawn chairs and relax.
What I did like was the wonderful muffins served at breakfast in the morning. What I did not like is the owner keeps the recipe a secret!!!
Very good location. Management was very helpful and made everything as easy as possible.
Other "residents" were noisy and inconsiderate. Not the motel's problem at all, but annoying. Room was a bit too small. Again, not a complaint but it is not what I am used to living in.
